Moonradio - Falling [Bevrijdingsfestival Leeuwarden 2021]

About
A primal version of Moonradio was founded in 2007. Then a bunch of friends decided to form a guitar band after an impromptu jam session at a festival. Since then they have mainly been under the radar developing their music, and in particular the search for their sound and raison d'être. Only in recent years did all the pieces fall into place. A permanent keyboardist was added to the band and it was decided to share personal, recognizable experiences for everyone. The result is a sound and theme that is more topical than ever in 2022.
Moonradio consists of Richard Aeilkema (vocals, guitar), Gerco Mons (rhythm guitar), Geert-Jan Mulder (keyboards), Eddie van der Veen (bass) and Otto Overeem (drums). As with sources of inspiration such as Nothing But Thieves and Radiohead, guitars, synthesizers and effects each play an equally important role. As a result, their indie songs are big and compelling at times, and small and mysterious at other times. But always full of meaning.
In 2020, the band's potential was noticed and Moonradio was invited to participate in the talent development program Hit The North. The expectations and ambitions were high, but unfortunately 'something' came up. Fortunately, the six were used to working under the radar and they confidently continued to build a new repertoire. That's it now!
Moonradio released four EP's in the last of many years. Since 2020 they work with Ivo Severijns. He produced and mastered the recordings of their EP Distance. Martijn Groeneveld [including Rondé, Blaudzun, Klangstof] was responsible for the mix. In 2025 the band will launch New Roads. Six songs about seeking new roads with respect for the past and curiousity for what is coming. For this fifth EP the band again worked with Severijns and Ocki Klootwijk (Rocktown studio's Rotterdam) who also was responsible for the mix.
Moonradio can't wait to share their songs and experiences live with their ever-growing fan base!
